As we witness the ongoing challenges facing the Near East, our commitment to standing together in solidarity with our Jewish brothers and sisters is more important than ever. Our hearts are heavy as we remember the lives lost and pray for those still held hostage, especially following the terrible events of October 7th.

In an act of remembrance and solidarity, Philos Catholic is praying a nine day novena to remember the victims, hostages, and heroes of the October 7th terrorist attack last year.

We aim to unite both Christian and Jewish communities in prayer and action, bearing witness to peace amidst rising violence and division. Sadly, we have also seen an alarming rise in antisemitic attacks and rhetoric, some even from within our own faith communities. It is our duty as Catholics to counter these harmful forces with charity and friendship.

Our goal is to bring together as many as possible along with the rest of the Philos community—will you be one of those to respond?

We invite you to join us in this solemn and profound act of solidarity, as we remember, stand together, and pray for peace in the Near East.

Prayer from the novena

Novena Prayers

Begin with: Let us pray and call on the intercession of St. Michael the Archangel, protector of the Jewish people and Our Lady of Victory, for the protection of the universal Church, especially in the Near East. Read the Bible Verse of the Day (check @philoscatholic Instagram for the Bible Verse of the Day) Pray the Holy Spirit prayer: Heavenly King, Consoler, Spirit of Truth, you who are everywhere present and fill all things, Treasury of Blessings, Giver of Life, come dwell in us, cleanse us of all stain, and save our souls O Good One. This is followed by a recitation of: The Holy Rosary with the intention that the Spirit of Truth will overshadow the whole world, especially in this critical time, Israel and the Near East. St. Michael the Archangel, pray for us. Our Lady of Victory, pray for us. *You may also fast as you are able in humility for the peace of the world
