You are the Salt of the Earth - (Matthew 5:13)

So that we could know the acts and words of Jesus during his earthly life, his disciples transcribed them in the Gospels. The Gospel according to Matthew contains this quote from Jesus: “you are the salt of the earth” just after the Beatitudes. During Jesus’ sermon on the mount, He teaches the crowd and tells them the parable. He described his listeners very nicely, also saying: “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). The Salt of the Earth in the Gospels

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” (Matthew 5:13)
 “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with each other.” (Mark 9:50)
 “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out. “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.” (Luke 14:34)

Be the Salt of the Earth

The Lord said this to all those who listen to him. He speaks not only to his disciples, but to all the people present at that time and still today to those of us who listen to this message. We are the salt of the earth. To know what the Lord means by this expression, we have to look at what salt is and what it serves. Salt gives flavor. The salt improves the taste of what we eat. When food is too bland, we add salt. Likewise, God puts us on the earth and fills us with his flavor, which is joy, peace and justice, and what he expects of us is that we spread it on the earth. Let us look around and realize how bland the world is. The good news is that we believers are the answer that can bring hope and life back to the world. So, let's add taste to this world!
