“Here am I, send me” (Isaiah 6:8). These are the words of the prophet Isaiah when he finds himself face to face with the Lord, who confides to him that He is looking for a messenger. The book of Isaiah is found in the Old Testament between the Song of Songs the book of the prophet Jeremiah. Isaiah 53 is a key passage that summarizes the message of God’s salvation. Let us find out who Isaiah is in the Bible and the messianic prophecies he pronounced.
The name Isaiah means “God is salvation” or “God saves”. The Bible tells us that he had a wife, also a prophet: “Then I made love to the prophetess, and she conceived and gave birth to a son. And the Lord said to me, ‘Name him Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz.” (Isaiah 8:3) and two children: “Here am I, and the children the Lord has given me. We are signs and symbols in Israel from the Lord Almighty, who dwells on Mount Zion.” (Isaiah 8:18).
The ministry of Isaiah reportedly lasted more than 40 years from the reign of King Ozias to the siege of Jerusalem by Assyrian King Sennacherib. God sends him to speak to the people to Israel, Judea and other nations about their acts of idolatry and disobedience to God, but most importantly, Isaiah announces the salvation to come. He speaks of a person “Emmanuel”, the Messiah who will come and bring peace and justice to the nations. This prophecy was fulfilled in the person of Jesus.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”. (Isaiah 9:5)
“The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.” (Isaiah 58:11)
“Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.” (Isaiah 43:4)

“This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it!” (Isaiah 30:15)
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn. (Isaiah 60:1-3)
