What is the meaning of the word "evangelism"? It comes from the Greek word "euangelion", in Latin "Evangelium", which means "good news". Therefore, preaching the gospel is like sharing "good news" that Jesus Christ came to save us, died for our sins and resurrected.

Why and how do you become an evangelist? God's kingdom needs people to do its work. So Jesus sends us on a mission: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19). Testify about meeting Jesus, talk about your faith, spread what motivates you and shine God's love. That's what every Christian is called to do.

Have a heart of a missionary    

We are invited to share what makes us feel alive, thrive, and bring us joy! "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." (Mathew 5:14-16) Thus we should acknowledge God's presence in our lives. Even when we know how precious our faith is, it is not simple to overcome barriers, fears and prejudice. We can pray to the Holy Spirit and ask him to teach us how to testify to the good news. We can also lay our prayers before all the saints who have made their lives evangelism.

Find your path

There are many ways to evangelise. First, you should find a way of spreading the gospel that suits your personality and charisma. Getting involved in a mission, a parish service, and your community's life are only a few examples of how you can live your faith and share it with others. The Internet is an amazing tool to help others discover Jesus. You can share a post from your prayer community or invite a friend via email to join a novena with just a few clicks! Another way to share the Good News is to testify about what Jesus means to you and how prayer changed your life!

Pray for those who have not met Jesus yet

Our actions have to be followed by prayers. Pray for every Christian bearing the Good News, their brothers and sisters in Christ, and those who have not met Jesus yet. Let's pray for those who never heard of Jesus, who never met him in person and those who turned away from him.
