The rosary—that is to say, the recitation of the rosary coupled with the meditation on the mysteries of the life of Christ—is a prayer prayed by a large number of Catholics, including popes and saints. Support in the spiritual struggle, “the sweet chain that connects us to God”, praying the rosary allows us to obtain many graces from Mary. Saint John Paul II said, "It would be impossible to cite the countless clouds of saints who have found in the Rosary an authentic path to sanctification. It will suffice to recall Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort, author of a precious work on the Rosary.” It is precisely in his book, “The Secret of the Rosary”, that he gives us 8 wonderful and powerful reasons to recite the Rosary with fervor.
In his work The Secret of the Rosary, Saint Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort lists the “roses” of the Rosary, as many reasons to make us love this marial prayer of which he was an ardent missionary. The twenty-seventh rose is called: the benefits of the Rosary. He lists the different ways in which this prayer transforms us, fulfills us, and supports us:
“To further inspire you in this devotion of great souls, I add that the Rosary recited with the meditation of the mysteries: 1- elevates us imperceptibly to the perfect knowledge of Jesus Christ;
2- purifies our souls from sin;
3- makes us victorious over all our enemies;
4- makes the practice of virtues easy for us;
5- enkindles us with the Love of Jesus Christ;
6- enriches us with graces and merits;
7- provides us with the means to repay all our debts to God and to men;
8- enables us to obtain from God all kinds of graces.”
