Not every prayer has to be long and silent, like contemplative prayers. Aspirations, what we also call “ejaculatory prayers” are spontaneous, short prayers that spring from your heart. This form of prayer is meant to help you turn your focus to God throughout the day.
Aspirations are short and powerful prayers that you can say at any time of the day, regardless of what you are doing. It is a spontaneous show of praise to God! Aspirations help you unite yourself with God for a moment: spread throughout your day, these brief moments of prayer become very significant if they are done repeatedly. Aspirations allow us to put our relationship with Jesus Christ at the heart of our lives.
Aspirations can be extracted from Bible verses; you can also say simple sentences like “I love you, Jesus”, “thank you Lord”, “Mary, Our Blessed Mother, pray for me”, etc. Some saints used to offer a few short prayers to God throughout their day.
