Ideally, work should be fulfilling. But unfortunately, for some people, it is not the case. Unemployment, financial issues, tensions, stress, tiredness, employee relation issues or poor working conditions can make your professional experience really challenging. To protect yourself from discouragement and prevent job burnout, you can entrust your working life to the Lord through prayers of protection. St. Joseph, the Patron Saint of workers, can also be of help.
“Lord Jesus, blessed are You for this work that You provided me, and for the gifts and the skills that you placed in me to help me accomplish my duties.
Teach me to do my very best every day, to always please You and bring satisfaction to everyone. Bless each and every one of my coworkers: may Your divine presence shine through me, enlighten and comfort them.
Make me an instrument of Your peace where there are conflicts. Make my heart truthful where there are lies. Make my words just where there is malevolence and gossip.
Make me a source of joy where there is sadness.
May I always seek You in everything, O my Lord.
Amen.”
“O Glorious St. Joseph, model of all those who are devoted to labor, obtain for me the grace to work conscientiously, putting the call of duty above my natural inclinations, to work with gratitude and joy, in a spirit of penance for the remission of my sins, considering it an honor to employ and develop by means of labor the gifts received from God, to work with order, peace, moderation and patience, without ever shrinking from weariness and difficulties, to work above all with purity of intention and detachment from self, having always death before my eyes and the account that I must render of time lost, of talents wasted, of good omitted, of vain complacency in success, so fatal to the work of God. All for Jesus, all through Mary, all after thine example, O Patriarch, St. Joseph. Such shall be my watch-word in life and in death.
Amen.”
