“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24)
“Jesus said to him: “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24)
This passage from John’s gospel relates the meeting between Jesus and the Samaritan woman. God, by making himself man, by coming to us, allows us to enter a new relationship. He sent us his son and he sent us his Spirit so that we could welcome him into us.
God does not expect us to worship or specific rituals; he wants us to come into a heart to heart with him.
It is not outside that we must seek it but within ourselves, in the truth of our heart.
God is here, here and now. It is often we who are not there to worship him, pray to him, or simply rest in his presence.
