Jesus
Jesus of Nazareth, Son of God, Saviour, Redeemer, Messiah, Incarnate Word… There are so many names and titles that can describe Jesus Christ. We have all heard of this great man, to some extent. However, for many people, Jesus is just a historical character, and they do not know his message and mission. And you, have you ever wondered who Jesus is?
For Muslims, Jesus is seen as a prophet. Judaism also acknowledges his existence. Therefore, historians often identify him as a historical figure. However, for Christians, Jesus is the central figure of Christianity and the second person of the holy trinity. In the Bible, he is described as „the way and the truth and the life” (John 14:6).
Jesus lived as a human for thirty-three years before dying on the Cross for our sins. We can learn more about his life through the Gospel and the teachings his disciples passed on to the first Christian communities in their letters! God sent us his beloved Son to get closer to us.
Jesus is always there for us and can intercede for us in Heaven.
In the New Testament, namely in the Gospels of the Bible (Gospel of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), we can find stories and references to the life of Jesus: his birth or nativity, his presentation in the temple according to Jewish tradition, his baptism that took place in the Jordan River by John the Baptist, the miracles he performed afterwards, the last supper with the disciples, the Passion, and finally, his death and resurrection.
Praying the rosary is a great opportunity to meditate upon the events in Jesus’ life, from the day he was born, until the Ascension. The rosary is divided into sections: Joyful Mysteries, Luminous Mysteries, Glorious Mysteries, and Sorrowful Mysteries. Each day of the week corresponds to another part of the rosary.
After being baptised, Jesus began to perform many miracles and wonders described in the Bible and still spoken of today, two millennials later. God the Father revealed his power through the works that Jesus performed on earth. The miracles proved that He was the Son of God and glorified the Father. Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, performed many spectacular miracles: he healed many sick people, raised Lazarus from the dead, walked on water, turned water into wine at the wedding in Cana, multiplied loaves and fish, and many more. He also communicated the Father’s message to us through parables, taking examples from everyday life to present the truths of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Jesus came to this world to live as a human to save us and show us that he is close and ready to meet us! No matter where we are in our lives, he is there for us, waiting for us to invite him into our hearts.
