“O Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Thine!”
Like the Litany to The Holy Name of Jesus, and the Litany of The Saints, The Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus has officially been recognised by the Church since the time of Pope John XXIII. It is prayed on the first Friday of each month, a day dedicated to the Divine Heart of Jesus Christ. The litany is composed of 33 invocations to the Heart of Jesus, representing the 33 years that Christ has spent on earth. It is a prayer to contemplate the infinite love of God for humankind.

Let us pray:
Almighty and eternal God, look upon the Heart of Thy most beloved Son and upon the praises and satisfaction which He offers You in the name of sinners; and to those who implore Thy mercy, in Thy great goodness, grant forgiveness in the name of the same Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who lives and reigns with You forever and ever.
Amen.”
The Sacred Heart of Jesus is God’s decision to fill the heart of humanity with all His love by making Himself a Man. It is a wonderful gift that we are encouraged to honor and express gratitude to by praying to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Church abounds with prayers to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, such as prayers of consecration, prayers of reconciliation, and particularly the novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The purpose of these prayers is to give glory to God and to open ourselves to the Divine Heart of Christ.
“Lord, enclose me in the depths of your Heart. And, when you have me there, burn me, purify me, set me afire, raise me up to perfect satisfaction of your pleasure, unto the most complete annihilation of myself.

“O most holy Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore You, I love You, and with a lively sorrow for sins, I offer You this poor heart of mine.
Make me humble, patient, pure and wholly obedient to Your will. Grant, good Jesus, that I may live in You and You in me. Protect me in the midst of danger; comfort me in my afflictions; give me health of body and mind, and assist me with my temporal needs. Bless me on all that I do, and grant me the grace of a holy death.
Amen.”
