Coming from the word "Gospel" which means "good news," evangelism is the announcement of the good news to the world. And this good news is that Jesus, by his death and resurrection, saved us from death and sin and opens us to a new life!
Throughout his ministry, Christ never stopped evangelizing, and, in his wake, he invites us to do the same and sends us on a mission: “Therefore make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). We Christians are thus called to witness to our encounter with Christ, to communicate our faith, to radiate the love of God, because we are the light of the world! Through evangelism, the Lord wishes to manifest himself to the world!
“And so I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.” (Ezekiel 38:23)
Jesus paved the way for evangelism
“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.” (Matthew 9:35)
“But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea." (Luke 4:43-44)
Jesus also sends us on a mission
“Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” (John 20:21)

Christians’ mission of evangelization

When we evangelize, the Spirit of the Lord is on us!
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
Before the end, the gospel will be proclaimed to all nations
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)
“And the gospel must first be preached to all nations.” (Mark 13:10)
