Sometimes we all feel like giving up, that the pain we are going through is just too much and that we can't go on. Our thoughts can quickly spiral as problems seem to grow and it can be hard to see a way out. When we are going through dark times and life feels hard, we often get discouraged and can struggle with depression, hopelessness or anxiety.
When we start to struggle with low mood, we can and should fight back. Where can we find strength and courage to fight dark thoughts? The word of God says that : “ those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles ; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint ” (Isaiah 40 v.31). This is where Christians find strength during difficult times and the reason that we can still smile through every struggle. Wisdom from the Good Book strengthens and encourages us and helps us to put our best foot forward and live with hope and joy. Here are 10 quotes from Scripture to help with depression, hopelessness and worry.
“For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.” (Proverbs 24:16 )
“Anyone who is among the living has hope—even a live dog is better off than a dead lion!” (Ecclesiastes 9:4)
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
“But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. We wait in hope for the Lord ; he is our help and our shield.” (Psalms 33:18-20)

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3, v.16-17)
Learn to surrender to God who loves you forever
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” (Hebrews 4:15-16)
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” (1 Peter 5:10)
“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.” (John 15:16)
“Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” (Hebrews 12:2-3)
