A famous proverb says: “patience is golden”. However, the living in our fast world, we can't help but develop impatience. When we take on a project, we hurry to see the fruits of our efforts. When we pray for change in our lives, we want it as soon as possible. Let us not forget that Moses had to deal with the complaints of the Israelites in the desert for 40 years and Abraham waited 25 years for the promised child. We will not necessarily have to wait as long as these holy men did, and the good news is that God will always be with us and support us while we wait. Here are 5 bible verses to help you develop patience and hope.
“Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him.” (2 Peter 3:15)
“Then the LORD replied: ‘Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.” (Habakkuk 2:2-3)
I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; (Job 19:25-26)
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:14)
“Perseverance [produces] character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” (Romans 5:4-5)
